Ο Άγιος Παύλος γεννήθηκε στη Θεσσαλονίκη, στις αρχές του 4ου αιώνα μ.Χ. και υπήρξε γραμματέας του αγιοτάτου Πατριάρχη Κωνσταντινουπόλεως Αλεξάνδρου. Μία μέρα που τελούσε την Θεία Λειτουργία όρμησαν καταπάνω του Αρειανοί και τον έπνιξαν με το ίδιο του το ωμοφόριο. Έτσι ο Άγιος ετελείωσε και παρέδωσε την ψυχή του στον Κύριο.
